5 Inspiring Films for White People

MORE:Culture

The majority of well-made, compelling films do not have happy endings — especially for racially conscious whites. Here are five worthwhile exceptions.

Zulu (1964)

A stirring movie about the Battle of Rorke’s Drift in January of 1879, when 150 British soldiers held off 4,000 African warriors.

The Naked Prey (1966)

This is one of several retellings of the classic short story, “The Most Dangerous Game,” by Richard Connell. In this one, a white man in Africa refuses to be hunted down and killed, and learns that he has what it takes to survive.

The Lord of the Ring Trilogy (2001-2003)

This is an epic saga of good versus evil. And you needn’t have a degree in comparative literature to see parallels between the races of Middle Earth and those in our own world.

The Lives of Others (2007)

This is a story about freedom versus Communism, set in homogeneous East Germany, but it is still as relevant as ever. It reminds us that a massive totalitarian surveillance state dedicated to enforcing supposedly noble fictions can be brought down.

Interstellar (2014)

Earth is dying and only the Faustian spirit of Western man can save it.
